Asian Heritage Centre

People enjoying crafts at the Asian Heritage CentreThe Asian Heritage Centre has been developed to meet the needs of Asian elders living in the Stockport area. Many of the services available at our Resource Centres are also provided here. The centre has a dedicated Asian Community Service Worker who can provide interpreting services if they are needed.

The centre operates every Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. It is located in ‘The Cellars’ at the Heaton’s Centre, Thornfield Road, Heaton Moor, SK4 3LD. Tel: 0161 442 8741.

The Centre is open for a full day, a morning or afternoon session, or drop in to access a specific activity, service or for advice and information. Our diverse team of Community Service Workers and Support Workers are appropriately skilled and committed to providing an individually focused service.

Our staff can provide interpreter support with the following languages for Urdu, Hindu, Gujarati, Punjabi and English.

Individuals play an integral part in planning and on delivering activities of their choice. We will work with individuals, families and carers to achieve the best possible service.

We can offer support in a rehabilitative way with activities such as personal care, managing your medication and support with finances and shopping. We work with people to build a programme of activities and support, to enhance independence, promote health and wellbeing, and maximise choices in achieving preferred lifestyles.

We can assist with interpretation at the centre and for specific visits such as hospital appointments if required.

Day Services actively promotes joint working and meaningful partnerships with other community services.

While at the centre, a range of activities, events and information sessions are delivered in partnership with services such as, the Primary Care Trust, the Community Police, charitable organisations, education and voluntary groups, covering topics such as:
