Day Centres offer a local comfortable and welcoming environment to meet new people and widen social networks for support and companionship. Clubs operate at varying times with the core hours between 10.00am and 2.00pm.

Individual centres operate between one and three days per week. They are located across the borough usually in church buildings and community centres. They offer;

• A place to enjoy a hot meal
• Spend time with people who share similar interests and experiences
• Join in with activities such as chess and crafts
• Go out to arranged events
• Access information about other services available which may be of interest

Our Community Service Workers co-ordinate and support the day centres and they can then help to find a local club suited to your needs.

Charges to attend day centres may vary. A set amount is charged to cover the cost of a hot two course meal. In addition some centres may also charge a small amount for tea and coffee as well as holding raffles etc, to help out with the cost of entertainment, parties, or special occasions during the year.

Our professional team of Community Service Workers support a wide variety of voluntary run day centres across the borough.

The Community Service Workers will;

• Support people, their family and carers to make informed choices about the services they can access.
• Provide support in organising appropriate transport.
• Introduce people to the service.
• Act as a regular contact for users their family and carers.
• Support people to monitor and review requirements, choices and day to day needs.
• Provide relevant information about services which may be of benefit.
• Refer people to other services where appropriate.
