A view of Windmill Street looking due north. This street lay just to the east, and behind, Mount Tabor Chapel and the British Schools on Wellington Road South. It formed a junction with Edward Street , and almost a cross-road with Lord Street beyond.

Chestergate undergoing road widening. This perspective, looking due east, is from a point near the edge of Carr Green (now south end of Mersey Square ). The continuation of Daw Bank is visible as it rises up to St. Peter's Square (right), and also the end wall of St. Peter's School. The projecting buildings further down on the left of Chestergate were part of the Stockport Co-operative.

The entrance gate to the graveyard of St. Mary's Parish Church to the south-east of St. Mary's Gate. Bodies and coffins were taken from the church and churchyard, through the metal gate, across St. Mary's Gate and through the decorated brick gate for burial.
